Submitting articles or quick tips to the MacEnterprise.org website is something that we always try to advocate to those coming to the site. We want to encourage all of you to participate by submitting any guides, how-to's , or quick tips for the Enterprise group.
Once you have registered for the site, you are able to begin article submissions. When you login, you will notice on the left menu a series of links you can use for submitting information.
You'll notice that by clicking on either the "Submit an In Depth Article" or "Submit a QuickTip" you are taken to a screen that looks identical. The only difference being in the Category drop menu.Once you've entered in a title and picked a category, you're ready to enter in your text. The Intro Text field can give a brief introduction for your article, while the Main Text field is where you would type in the bulk of your article's text. Most Quick Tips can be submitted by just entering your information into the Intro Text field.
Joomla! supports basic html tags within the body of your text. Things like bold text
line breaks
paragraph breaks
and url reference links
Use the contructions Amp+lt; for "<" and Amp+gt; for
">" for listing out plist files and other xml content or html tags.
For code and code snippets, please use the "<PRE>" and "</PRE>" tags around the example content.
A good basic reference for html tags can be found at the World Wide Consortium - W3C.
Once you have typed in your article, you can then click on the disk icon in the upper right of the screen to submit it. Currently mambo does not support user previews. The article will be sent to us for approval and then we will post it to the site after review.
QuickTip submissions can be something relatively small, such as proper usage of a certain command line executable such as niload, nidump, etc. They can be quick notes for others on setup procedures, new functionality of apps, etc.
The In Depth submissions are intended more for the longer , how-to articles. Guides for integrating Open Directory into existing LDAP infrastructures. Articles describing how one might setup and use login and logout hooks in their lab environment. Information that is particularly useful are articles we've called "CookBooks". These are guides specific to how one site has tackled a certain issue(deploying Mac OS X to 1000 laptops in 24 hours). While they may be specific in nature to one University or Corporation, they can help others that may be trying to work out some of those same issues at their location.
We would hope that as you find information here that is helpful to you and your organization, that you would consider contributing back to the site and help us grow.
If you need further help or have problems with article submissions, please send us feedback by clicking on the Contact Us: link at the top of the page.
The MacEnterprise.org Steering Committee thanks you for your continued support.
