I really like the mambo template you use on MacEnterprise.org. Is it possible to have a copy?
We're glad you like the template, but unfortunately it is not available for distribution.

I would like to contribute articles to the site, but I am not sure how it is done.
Please check out our Quick Tips article which covers submitting materials to the site.

Webcasts

How do the webcasts work?
Live webcasts are QuickTime-based and have a dual stream and window pane showing video of the presenter and slides. The webcast is presented within a browser window.  Viewers are also able to chat- in their questions throughout the presentation.

Viewers see a dual window pane where stream 1 (video of the presenter) is 240x180 and stream 2 (the computer output or slide presentation) is 640x384.  These are both combined into a single QuickTime movie, which is embedded in the page for live webcasts.  The viewers also have a text bar, allowing them to chat-in their questions throughout the presentation. The presenters view the questions via an iChat window

When are the webcasts?
Webcasts are typically held on the 3rd Tuesday of the month at 10:00 AM Pacific/1:00 PM Eastern.

How can I be notified of upcoming webcasts?
Notifications are posted on the MacEnterprise.org mailing list as well as the main website.  You can also subscribe to the main website via our RSS feed.

How do I view the webcasts?
You view the webcast with a web browser.  The webcast server is typically http://webcast.training.apple.com. You will also need a login id and access code for each new webcast, both of which are located on the Webcast Participation page.  If you have problems, first ensure you have the latest OS, QuickTime, and web browser updates available.

When will the latest webcast be available on-demand in the archives?
All webcasts are archived as soon as we receive the video files from the webcast studio. Notifications are posted on the MacEnterprise.org main page and the MacEnterprise.org mailing list when the archives have been updated. Most archived webcasts should become available between 2-3 weeks after the live event.

I would like to present a webcast, how do I do that?
We are always looking for new webcast content that focuses on technical solutions for Mac OS X in the enterprise.  Please send us a message through our "contact us page." Please include information on what it is you would like to present, how to get in contact with you, bios, etc.  Please do not send in sample or sales presentation slide decks.

How far in advance should a webcast be scheduled?
We recommend you contact us at least 4 weeks in advance. However, due to cancellations, we could have last-minute availability–so be sure to check, if you have an urgent need.

What is the slide format?
You can use Apple's standard Marcom widescreen Keynote templates, or you can use the following template to create your webcast presentation: (Please Note: Avoid using 4:3 aspect ratio, and make sure the resolution is 1229x768)

Webcast Template

Can I use media and animations in the slides?
The new system supports video within Keynote, slide builds, animations, and transitions, etc.    The audience will see the Keynote presentation at 50% size (640x384).  You can view your slides at 50% size while creating them in Keynote to optimize the user experience, making sure they can see and read graphics and text.

Software demos are also fully supported. Anything you do on the Mac can be broadcast in real-time.  Some small elements and text may not be easily seen, so we encourage the use of the Zoom feature of Mac OS X Universal Access if needed.  Additionally, you can make demo or tutorial movies of software in advance using Snapz Pro, for example. Practicing or rehearsing the demo in advance is strongly recommended.

The studio currently has 3 PowerBook G4 1.5GHz computers in the studio specifically for presenting Keynote slides and software demos.  However, if you have more powerful computing needs, contact us about them in advance.
