Binary printing and Photoshop E-mail
Written by Justin Elliott

To prevent Adobe PhotoShop from printing as binary and thus causing the LPR printers to spit out ASCII pages, here's how to change PhotoShop's encoding to ASCII for printing:
  1. Launch PhotoShop logged in as a default user
  2. Create a new document
  3. Use the paint brush and ... paint something cute
  4. Select File, Print with Preview...
  5. In the lower left corner, change "Encoding:" to ASCII
  6. Click the Print... button
  7. Click the Print button in the Print dialog. You MUST print for the encoding preference to be saved in the file: ~/Library/Preferences/Adobe Photoshop 7.0 Settings/Adobe Photoshop 7.0 Prefs
