Printing - Setting Up LPR and IP printing for use with Print Manager Plus and
Windows 2000 Server with Print Pooling
Client Configuration
- Open Print Center, add a new printer and
choose IP Printing from the menu
- Enter the Windows 2000 Server hostname or IP address that queues
are on:
10.0.0.25
- Enter the shared queue name:
LC16COV
- Choose the driver for the printer
- Print Manager Plus automatically calculates the page count from
file size
- Print Manager Plus will strip the IP address from the username
of the print job
Server Configuration
- Create two TCP/IP ports to the IP addresses of the two different
printers:
IP_10.0.0.5
IP_10.0.0.8
- Once these ports are created, create two printers that print to these IP
addresses:
LC16COV1 maps to port IP_10.0.0.5, not shared
LC16COV2 maps to port IP_10.0.0.8, not shared
- Create 2 LPR ports to the 2 queues that we just created:
Server: 10.0.0.25
Queue: LC16COV1
Server: 10.0.0.25
Queue: LC16COV2
- Create a new printer:
LC16COV maps to LPR port 10.0.0.25:LC16COV1, shared as LC16COV
Go to properties and enable printer pooling, select 10.0.0.25:LC16COV2
Now LC16COV should be mapped to LC16COV1 and LC16COV2
- Make sure print accounting is only on the LPR queues
If print accounting is on LC16COV, student will be charged twice for job in LC16COV and LC16COV1 or LC16COV2.
